CENSORSHIP
What is it ?
Internet CENSORSHIP is the control or suppression of the publishing of, or access to information on the Internet, and may be carried out by governments or by private organizations on their own initiative.
"An exclusive focus on government censorship produces serious blind spots. In particular, a well-function system of free expression must meet two distinctive requirements.
First, people should be exposed to materials that they would not have chosen in advance. Second, many or most citizen should have a range of common experiences." The Daily Me |

In 2007, AT&T came under fire when music fans discovered that the company had edited out political comments in a Webcast performance by the band Pearl Jam. The band covered Pink Floyd's song "Another Brick in the Wall" and added lyrics criticizing United States President George W. Bush. AT&T cut the new lyrics out of the song before Webcasting it. After an outcry from fans, the company eventually admitted that it wasn't an isolated incident, though AT&T spokeswoman Tiffany Nels claimed that it was never AT&T's intent to remove political statements from Webcasts.
